A Chicken On Every Plot in Ft. Lauderdale

A great concept, if the neighbors ALL agree.  But, chicken poop is a "crappy" mess as much as dog "poo" is. Does this mean that the chickens will be caged?

So, we have a lot of discussion on whether to allow chickens in the backyard, where one resides or to keep them on the farm?

We need to get back to being more self-sufficient and knowing where are food is grown and how it is fertilized, etc.

Several cities have considered this as a plus for the community. I do have an adrenalin flow, as I see chickens walking behind the pharmacy. It is nice to see "mother nature's gift" to civilazation, but do I want the chickens walking through my backyard along with the squirrels and the birds? Not sure.

I know that my dog would go "ballistic", then my neighbors would complain about a "barking dog". My cat, would stare for awhile and then probably wonder if being free is a good idea and think about escaping to find those big birds.

As to the parrots flying free in the trees in several states, yes a Quaker parrot is a noisey creature! As, I go to clean mine in the evening, he harps at me so much that I have probably lost part of my hearing capabilities in the left ear.

But, mankind is here temporarily on the planet and we need to be good neighbors to the animals , fowl and fish that also claim space.

I wonder if people with the chicken coops, would then decorate them? Now, I might have issues as the community association rules may not apply to coops with red stripes on yellow plywood. But, it does sound like a boost to the economy...and a sure fire way to feed the tummy.

Unless, "some one" comes and steals your chicks!
